Emily joins the collaborative team with extensive experience working with people of all ages and in a variety of settings. Emily is a Metro-Detroit native who has lived in Ann Arbor for over 20 years.
After earning her MSW from the University of Michigan, Emily worked at Jewish Family Service of Metro Detroit, where she provided supportive and therapeutic services for older adults and Holocaust survivors. Emily honed her skill set of Person-Centered and Trauma-Informed practices by working with this client population. She supported her clients by meeting clients “where they’re at” all while preserving client dignity, respect, and right to self-determination.
She is a skilled therapist who works with individuals, ages 16+. She offers therapeutic services to young adults, established and aging adults by creating a collaborative and safe environment. This allows Emily and her clients to develop trust in each other’s ability to move through the therapeutic process together towards self-compassion and sustainable tools for balance, healing, and growth.
Emily incorporates several styles and elements to her therapeutic approach depending on each individual. She sees clients experiencing anxiety, depression, issues related to trauma, identity questions, life transitions, grief & loss and end of life.She uses a variety of Strengths-Based approaches including Mindfulness and Self-Acceptance techniques. Emily’s modalities include Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (“parts work”), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Humanistic approaches. She has additional training in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-informed approaches, Death, Grief, Loss, and Palliative Care.
She also supports and advocates for LGBTQIA+, intersectional identities, all bodies and abilities by being committed to continuous learning, development, and advocacy in anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices.
In Emily’s free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. She loves going to visit Detroit, watching movies, reading novels, and walking in and around Ann Arbor.
