Meghan is happy to be part of the Grove team, supporting both new and established clients of Dr. Atkins and Dr. LePlatte. She knows that having a kind, empathetic person on the other end of a phone call or email can make a big impact on your experience of care.
With her degree in Communications plus graduate work studying human resources and instructional design, she spent 12 years making software accessible to non-software professionals. Meghan then transitioned to wellness work, becoming certified in both Reflexology and Reiki, as well as learning Nonviolent Communication (NVC) through a series of year-long intensive trainings.
Developed as an empathy-based conflict resolution model, NVC encourages us to develop a vocabulary for honest, clear expression of our feelings and needs; asks us to practice empathy for ourselves which facilitates offering more of it to others; and requests that we act with compassion, not just because it strengthens connection but also because it increases the likelihood that we will all get what we need.
Meghan is a lifelong Michigander, raised in the Detroit area and Petoskey, who has called Ann Arbor home for many years. She has held a variety of interesting jobs (video game tester, medical software training manager, boat club commodore) but her true passion is mental health and emotional wellness. In her free time, Meghan enjoys sailing and paddling, singing with the Ann Arbor Civic Chorus, and catching up with friends and family.
