Sumeyah is a psychotherapist who works with adults and adolescents. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and unique to each person she meets. She wishes to partner with clients to explore opportunities for growth and change. Sumeyah values sharing practical strategies and information to help clients improve mood and functioning. Her specialities include Anxiety disorders and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She also enjoys working with clients that need support for depression, grief and loss, and life transitions. Sumeyah works to create a safe and welcoming space for clients and enjoys using humor as a tool for healing.
Sumeyah earned her Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) at the University of Michigan. She has professional experience in academia/research, community-based work, and primary care. Sumeyah has collaborated with primary care providers and psychiatrists and is comfortable working with clients as they navigate changes in their medication regimen. Sumeyah works with adolescents ages 14+ and adults.
Sumeyah integrates a variety of treatment approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Mindfulness. She completed a graduate internship at the Michigan Medicine Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. Prior to starting at Grove, Sumeyah worked in Primary Care providing mental health services to patients following the Behavioral Health Collaborative Care model. She looks forward to holding this space and walking alongside clients on their path towards healing, growth, and discovery.
Michigan is home to Sumeyah. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new coffee shops, traveling, and listening to music.
